Started Puppy Program

We are excited to offer our Started Puppy Program to a limited number of individuals who are buying a puppy from Desert Oasis! We know that with the busyness of life, it can be difficult for new puppy moms and dads to devote the proper time to getting a puppy off on the right foot.

 

About the Started Puppy Program:

One of our trainers, Vanessa or Natalie will take your puppy into their home for 4 weeks of training. The puppy will go directly from the breeder to the trainer, or stay in the home of the breeder.  After the completion of the four week training period, the puppy will be transitioned to your home.

 

Training Includes:

 

  • Potty Training

  • Being Quiet in the Crate

  • Riding Politely in the Car

  • Walking Politely on a Leash

  • Staying Off the Couch

  • Not Jumping On People (sit politely for petting)

  • Standing Politely For Grooming

  • Manners in Public

  • Sit

  • Down

  • Stay

 

Care Includes:

 

  • Grooming

  • Three Vaccines (Distemper, Parvo, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza)

  • Veterinary Care as Needed

  • Food

  • Treats

  • Collar, Leash and treat bag you get to keep

 

Socialization/Neutralization To:  

 

  • Other Dogs of Various Ages

  • Cats

  • Horses

  • Chickens & Ducks

  • Pet Birds

  • Loud/Scary Sounds

  • Bikes, Skateboards, Scooters, Golf Carts, Grocery Carts

  • Thunder/Lightning (if it comes to us we will train)

  • Toddlers, Children and Adults of Various Ages & Appearances

  • Public Access (as allowed by individual places of business) We frequent Home Depot, Lowes, Joann’s Fabric, Outdoor Restaurants, Schools, and Churches.

 

Please be advised and keep this very close to heart. This program is called the STARTED Puppy Program. It is not a FINISHED puppy program. If you take your puppy home at 12 weeks of age, they are still a baby, YOU will need to finish their training.

We do not guarantee that your puppy will be COMPLETELY potty trained. Every puppy is an individual. Every puppy will learn at different rates, and how you handle your dog at home when you take him/her home will determine what happens with the training that is started. We do offer home visits after you take your puppy home for an additional fee.

 

Let me say it one more time. This program is to START puppies. For your puppy’s sake, we ask that you keep your expectations age appropriate, and that while your puppy is under our training, you read, and do your best to educate yourself on dog behavior, puppy development, and age-appropriate expectations.

 
Prices and Fee Schedule:

In order to register for the program you must first make sure there is availability with Vanessa or Natalie. Once availability has been confirmed, you will need to pay the non-refundable $500 deposit for the puppy you’ve selected. The Started Puppy Program is $350 per week, for 4 weeks, for a total of $1400.  You must pay for the training by the puppy’s 8 week birthday (unless you sign up after the 8 week birthday). The training fee is non-refundable, because we only take one puppy per litter for this program. The balance due for the puppy will be collected upon pick up when the puppy is 12 weeks old, (or upon pick up at a different age that has been mutually agreed upon.)

*** A note about fees *** Please keep in mind, the average price of boarding ALONE at a kennel is $40 per night, that does NOT include any training, grooming, food, vaccines, leashes, collars, or veterinary care. $40 per night is $280 a week. So our price is only $70 more than basic boarding.
